Foreword: This book contains the abstracts and final program of the 14th International Conference on Informatics in Control, Automation and Robotics (ICINCO 2017) held in Madrid, Spain from 26 - 28 July, 2017. ICINCO is sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC), co-organized by Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, technically co-sponsored by the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) and IEEE Robotics & Automation Society and held in cooperation with the ACM Special Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence (ACM SIGAI), the International Neural Network Society (INNS), the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), Euromicro, euRobotics AISBL, the Robotics Society of Japan (RSJ), the Brazilian Society of Automatica, the Portuguese Robotics Society (SPR), the European Association for Artificial Intelligence EurAI and the Associação Portuguesa de Controlo Automático (APCA). The ICINCO Conference Series has now become a major forum to debate technical and scientific advances presented by researchers and developers both from academia and industry, working in areas related to Control, Automation and Robotics that benefit from Information Technology. The high quality of the ICINCO 2017 program is enhanced by the four keynote lectures, given by internationally recognized researchers, namely: Andre Rosendo (University of Cambridge, United Kingdom), Vitor Santos (Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal), Wolfram Burgard (University of Freiburg, Germany) and Carme Torras (Institut de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial (CSIC-UPC), Spain). ICINCO 2017 received 214 paper submissions from 46 countries of which 26% were accepted as full papers. In order to evaluate each submission, a double blind paper review was performed by the Program Committee. As in previous editions of the Conference, based on the reviewer’s evaluations and the presentations, selected authors will be invited to submit extended versions of their papers for a book that will be published by Springer with the best papers of ICINCO 2017. Conferences are also meeting places where collaboration projects can emerge from social contacts amongst the participants. Therefore, in order to promote the development of research and professional networks, the Conference includes in its social program a Social Event & Banquet for the evening of July 27th. We would like to express our thanks and appreciations to all participants. First of all, to the authors, whose quality work is the essence of this conference. Second, to all the members of the Program Committee and all reviewers, who helped us with their expertise and valuable time they have invested in reviewing submitted papers. We would also like to deeply thank the invited speakers for their excellent contributions and sharing their knowledge and vision. Finally, a word of appreciation for the hard work of the INSTICC team; organizing a conference of this level is a task that can only be achieved by the collaborative effort of a dedicated and highly capable team. We hope that you will enjoy the conference and your stay in the beautiful city of Madrid. We also hope to see you again next year at ICINCO 2018. (More)
