Abstract
The increasing demand of high-speed data has aroused the problem of congestion in the network which results in degraded performance and faults in the network. Thus, it becomes necessary to effectively utilize the existing resources and available bandwidth rather than deploying new resources and upgrading the entire system to fulfill the increased need of data. This paper explores the causes of congestion in the backhaul network and presents an algorithm based on Strongly Typed Genetic Programming (STGP) with asynchronous population generation to optimize the utilization of bandwidth and resources. Every individual in the population is considered as a fiber which is a lightweight thread. The use of STGP ensures the avoidance of traffic congestion in the backhaul network due to blocking calls.
