abstract = "This paper describes a genetic programming approach to
object detection. This approach breaks the GP search
into two phases with the first phase applied to a
selected subset of the training data, and a simplified
fitness function. The second phase is initialised with
the programs obtained from the first phase, and uses
the full set of training data with a complete fitness
function to construct the final detection programs. In
addition to the detection rate and false alarm rate, a
program size and a false alarm area components are
added to the fitness function. The results on two
object detection problems suggest that the proposed
approach improve the effectiveness and the efficiency
of genetic programming.",
