Abstract:

Applications of Evolutionary Computation (EC) techniques to signal and image processing and computer vision are becoming more and more frequent, thanks to the ever increasing popularity of EC and to the ever increasing computing power offered by the most recent PCs. The tutorial will provide an overview of the field, trying to classify applications from both the point of view of the computer vision/image techniques and from the point of view of the EC techniques which are used in the applications under consideration. Therefore, the tutorial should be of interest for both EC experts who are offered an overview of possible applications, and image/signal processing and computer vision practitioners, who are not familiar with EC, who can get in touch with new effective techniques to solve their problems.
