Abstract:

BBN Technologies has a long history of collaborating with academia to develop state-of-the-art solutions to the problems of our Government customers, and to transition ideas, algorithms and products out of the lab. Based on our experiences, we discuss the benefits and issues that arise in industry-academia collaboration. To illustrate these points, we introduce a number of recent and ongoing projects, some of which have incorporated evolutionary computation (EC). More generally, BBN has applied EC to a wide variety of problems domains, and we are committed to promoting the utility of EC for developing flexible, robust applications. We are interesting in sharing ideas on joint projects, and are eager to work towards achieving mutual and successful transition to new and existing customers.
