abstract = "The fly algorithm is a real-time evolutionary strategy
designed for stereo vision. Previous work has shown how
to process stereo image sequences and use an evolving
population of flies as a continuously updated
representation of the scene for obstacle avoidance in a
mobile robot, and the support to collect information
about the environment from different sensors. In this
paper, we move a step forward and show a way the fly
representation may be used by a mobile robot for its
own localisation and build a map of its environment
(Simultaneous Localisation And Mapping).",
