abstract = "Two self-adaptive crossover operations are studied in
a nonstandard genetic program. It is shown that for
three distinct problems the results obtained when using
either of the self-adaptive crossover operations are
equivalent or better than the results when using
standard GP crossover. A postmortem analysis of the
evolved values for the self-adaptive parameters
suggests that certain heuristics commonly used in
genetic programming may not be optimal.",
