Based on a set of empirically validated structural regularities, the perceived organization of a visual pattern is claimed to be the most regular (simplest) structure of the pattern. The problem of finding the perceptual organization of visual patterns has relevant applications in multi-media systems, robotics and automatic data visualization. This paper shows that genetic programming (GP) is a suitable approach for solving this problem.",
