abstract = "Two variants of a new node-pair encoding genetic
programming (GP) approach for optical mesh network
topology design are presented. In addition, a new
variant of the earlier connected-nodes encoding is
described. Experimental work on 15- and 20-node
networks demonstrates that both GP approaches can
almost match the design quality of bit-string genetic
algorithms, particularly for the larger network size
investigated.",
