Abstract:

A heuristic technique is presented that applies simulated annealing search to derive mathematical equations that model a pilot for an X-CELL 60 helicopter. The technique uses a pre-defined alphabet of formulas and combines them to create a mathematical model of the system controller or pilot. itself when the system is nonlinear and thus can not be modeled well with a PID. One such area where this method has great potential is in modeling the response of a human pilot flying a helicopter. A human response to the environment cannot be duplicated within a mathematical function that is normally used with PIDs this is due to the limited range of these functions.
